At the time of 1857 revolt, the ratio of Indian soldiers and Europeans in the army was 6:1. Out of 6 soldiers, there was 1 European soldier. This was one of the major points of the military cause. This made easier for the number of Indian soldiers to take up arms against the British in 1857 revolt.
